The Rev. Dr. Dwight McCauley Jackson
The Rev. Dr. Dwight McCauley Jackson was born
in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his early training in the public and private
schools of Atlanta, Georgia. He continued his education and received a Bachelor
of Arts Degree, Cum Laude, from Morehouse College in Atlanta; Master of
Arts Degree in Urban Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh; Master
of Divinity Degree, with honors, from the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary
of Philadelphia. The United Theological Seminary in Monroe, Louisiana, conferred
the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity upon him. Pastor Jackson has traveled
extensively throughout the United States and Western Europe. He did further
studies at Roberts College in Istanbul, Turkey.
He was installed as Pastor of Amity Baptist Church,
Jamaica, in April 1986. In his ministry at Amity, he has brought over
1,000 souls to Christ; enhanced stewardship; developed leadership training
programs; deployed three new vans; renovated the main sanctuary; renovated
and dedicated two Human Service Commission buildings. Pastor Jackson has
organized new ministries touching the lives of children, youth, adults,
and seniors with programs to meet various human and spiritual needs. He
has been recognized as Pastor of a church with the most significant annual
support of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center of Non-Violence for Social
Change.
Clearly, Pastor Jackson recognizes both the human
and spiritual dimension of the person created in God's holy image. His
ministry has provided creative leadership within the congregation and
in the community to serve the whole person.
Dwight Jackson is a strong supporter of the United
Negro College Fund and serves as the General Chairman of the Queens Borough
Campaign. He has served as Vice Chairman of the York College Foundation
Board and as a member of the Finance and Property Committee of the American
Baptist Churches of Metropolitan New York. He is an Area Vice President
in the Empire Baptist Missionary Convention, and served as Campaign Finance
Chair for the Rev. Dr. Franklyn Richardson Campaign for President of the
National Baptist Convention, Inc. He was recently appointed President
of CUSH (Churches United to Save and to Heal).
